The new E-Line lightrailstation in The Hague is one of the five projects nominated for the The Hague Architectural Award “The New Berlagevlag 2017”. An award by a jury of peers for the most appealing spatial project in The Hague completed between 2012 and 2017.
With the new lightrailstation for the E-line, The Hague has been given a spacious and recognizable station from where travellers can travel easily and quickly with the light rail connection between The Hague, Leidschendam, Zoetermeer and Rotterdam. The transparent roof gives the station a spacious size and ensures recognisability and comfort for waiting travellers. With the sculptural shape of the roof and canopy, a landmark station has been created that takes the human scale well into account. At the same time, the station stands firm between the surrounding mega-complexes and arrests attention in the urban environment.
Together with the lightrailstation Beatrixlaan, the E-line station is an iconic logo for the city of The Hague. The new E-line station also puts The Hague on the international map and offers the traveller an attractive and modern public transport transfer. The E-line station provides an upgrade from the Anna van Buerenplein to a lively city square and makes the formerly dreary back of the station an attractive entrance to the city of The Hague.
The winner of the architectural award “The New Berlagevlag 2017” will be announced on February 20th.
